Restore an entire job with multiple VMs - Instantly !!

Sometimes there might be a use case of restoring not just a single VM, but restoring an entire job instantly.

This feature came handy for one of our initial POC customers who unfortunately got infected with the crypto virus and had to restore their entire environment back from backups.

Luckily they were protecting their VMs using Cohesity, and so the restore operation of multiple VMs was a breeze for them.

See below a video which shows how simple its to do the same.

Cohesity - Restore multiple VMs - Instantly !! from damien philip on Vimeo.

In the video above we will restore VMs from a job called Test_Job. There are 8 VMs being protected by this job.

When the restore operation is initiated, you can see the vCenter on the right side of the screen will start seeing the VMs pop in with the "Test_" prefix as defined in the restore operation task.

These VMs are initially powering on the Cohesity NFS data store being presented to the hosts and then in the background migrating over to the fasNAS (primary storage) as selected in the restore task.

The VMs being restored are chosen from a point in time from the backups, and each point in time snapshot is a "fully hydrated" copy of the VM and hence there is no time wasted in applying incremental to a previous full snapshot for this restore operation.
